TCA's Astroturf gets green light

Thomas Clarkson Academy’s 3G Astroturf has passed an FA Inspection to allow football matches to be played on the pitch.

Thomas Clarkson Academy’s 3G Astroturf has passed an FA Inspection to allow football matches to be played on the pitch.

The inspection was carried out late last year and with small remedial work now carried out the FA has given the school the green light to allow all matches to be played on their Astroturf for the next 3 years. The facility is now on the FA 3G Pitch Register.

Stephen Walker, Sports Lettings Manager at Thomas Clarkson Academy, said: “Under new FA rules in line with UEFA, all 3G pitches have to be inspected and passed to allow FA regulated matches to be played on artificial surfaces, and whilst we have lots of teams training at our facility, we weren’t able to hold matches for a short period of time. We have now passed this inspection and I am delighted that we can now allow all forms of matches to be played at our facility."

Local clubs who have matches postponed due to the weather can switch their fixture to Thomas Clarkson Academy’s facilities and still allow their match to be played.

The pitch also has floodlights in the event of late kick-off of midweek matches and quality new changing facilities for teams to use.
