Our Heroes worked with primary school pupils as part of an inspiring Humanutopia day.

Year 5 pupils from Ramnoth School and Peckover Primary came along to the school recently to take part in a session which our Year 9 heroes.

TCA has been working with social enterprise Humanutopia for the past 18 months and all students have become involved. As part of the project Humanutopia delivers its theory of change, inspiring students to develop personally, respect others and then act as role models to younger students.

Students become Heroes after taking part in a Heroes Journey in which they can reflect on their own behaviour and decide to make a positive change.

Teacher Sarah Loosemore said: “This is the academy’s second year of working with Humanutopia and it has bought huge benefits to the school. You can feel the difference it has made across the academy and it has had an impact on behaviour and also the self-confidence of many students.”

The Year 5 pupils came to the school and took part in an interactive session. They were tasked with team activities and took part in a harmony challenge, in which they dressed up as mummies.

Mrs Loosemore said: “It was a great event and I was really proud of the Heroes who worked fantastically with the younger students.”

Humanutopia will continue to work with the students throughout the year and over the summer holiday Heroes will lead a Harmony camp for the Year 6 students who will join the academy in September.
