Our halls were ringing with the sound of music as we staged our first ever 24-hour music marathon.

Forty students took part in the charity event with the first note being played at 8am on Friday and the last note sounded at 8am on Saturday.

At 7pm on Friday a concert was staged with staff and students taking part. Students slept in the academy theatre, with music workshops taking place throughout the night.

A total of £300 was raised for the charity My Friend Paul – which helps orphans in Kenya.

Music teacher Gayna O’Rourke said: “It was an exciting musical experience. We had all kinds of music from pop music and African drumming to Irish and Indian Music.

“Lessons and group performances took place throughout the day as well as workshops and karaoke.”
