Tournament win for Year 10 girl footballers

The Year 10 Girls team is celebrating after winning the Isle of Ely tournament.

The Year 10 Girls team is celebrating after winning the Isle of Ely tournament.

The team won four of its five games in the tournament, which took place at Witchford Village College on January 13th.

Students Kelly McManus, Rachel Stimpson, Chloe Clifford, Megan Sheldon, Kayleigh Goude, Claire Onions and Lauren Lester made up the team.

Lauren Lester scored a number of goals during the tournament and Kayleigh Goude had an impressive first appearance in goal.

PE teacher Kirstie Smith said: “The Year 10’s dominated the majority of their games with lots of possession, playing some good football. This is a great result for the girls who have been working extremely hard in their Session 6 Training, with the support of Peterborough United.”

Staff from the professional team have been working with students as part of their school sports programme. They have been putting the students through their paces during after school training.
