As part of World Book Day more than 40 staff have dressed up as iconic book characters with students having to guess the entire series of characters to be in the running for some prizes.

Organised by librarian Debbie Trafford and her team, each student can take part in the quiz, which lists the 44 characters walking around the school. Famous characters to be spotted include Geek Girl, Elizabeth Bennett, Ron Weasley and Fantastic Mr Fox.

Students are also being asked to nominate the teacher who they think has the best costume.

Mrs Trafford said: It’s a fun way for both adults and children to share their love of books – and to show the reluctant readers what they’re missing! Some characters are very familiar, such as Harry Potter and Fantastic Mr Fox, other characters have become a talking point for children who are not familiar with the books.”

The Year 8 students will also find out today whether they are record breakers. Along with other Brooke Weston trust Schools they took part in a World Book Day record break attempt to have the most people taking place in a quiz at the same time.
