A former TCA student has been accepted to study at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts.

Jacob Gowler is going to study for a degree in Technical Theatre and Stage Management at the famous London college from September.

Its is a dream come true for the talented student who discovered his love of theatre technical production while a student at TCA. He used to regularly assist with performance in our Act Theatre.

Jacob, who is currently studying a BTEC at Peterborough Regional College said: “I was lucky enough be offered a three-month trial at the Angles Theatre in Wisbech as theatre technician which led to a part time job at the theatre working on productions.

“This has been a great experience and has assisted me in a number of ways as it has given me further professional training along side college in a working venue.

Currently I have designed lighting for the traditional pantomime The Snow Queen, operated lighting for Annie, and learning about professional touring acts such as the Reduced Shakespeare Company.”

Jacob hopes to have a career in the West End.

Teacher Sarah Loosemore said: “While a student Jacob did a brilliant job behind the scenes in the theatre with the technical side of lighting and sound for performances. He also helped in assemblies and as an Academy are very proud of what he has gone on to do. We look forward to hearing about his future successe  in London!”
