Signs show off what teachers and staff are reading

Teachers and staff at TCA have been showing off what they are currently reading on signs which are being displayed around the school.

Teachers and staff at TCA have been showing off what they are currently reading on signs which are being displayed around the school.

The aim of the new scheme is to get students thinking about different reading material – including the likes of websites and magazines, as well as books.

Teacher Sue Beedham has been reading Athletics Weekly and comedian Lee Mack’s autobiography ‘Mack The Life’.

Mrs Beedham said: “I love autobiographies, I usually read sports autobiographies. If I’m not reading them I read books by Patricia Cornwell.

“I think the ‘Currently Reading’ signs are a good idea because the students do talk about them. I’ve had a lot of students who have said to me ‘who is Lee Mack?’.”

Teacher Lisa Smith has been reading ‘A Discovery of Witches’ by Deborah Harkness on her Kindle.

Miss Smith said: “I think it’s very good. I read quite a lot of books and I’ve found quite a few students have been coming and asking me about them after reading the sign.”

Others taking part include Kerry Bowen, who is reading ‘The lost art of keeping secrets’ by Eva Rice. Principal Clare Claxton has also been taking part and is currently reading ‘Feet in the clouds’ by Richard Askwith.
