  • Parents - Important message.

    Dear Parents,

Please see below a message from Cambridgeshire police in connection with enhanced policing following the Manchester bombing. We have been asked to circulate this to all schools and to request that you circulate this to parents.

This message has also been circulated via the media.  The key message is that, at this time, there is no specific intelligence which suggests that Cambridgeshire is at risk or in receipt of any specific threat.  Please, though, ensure that your staff remain vigilant at all times and that children's safety and wellbeing continues to be of paramount importance.

Please be aware that it has come to our attention that many students are watching a Netflix programme called ‘13 Reasons Why’.

Principal's Welcome

Welcome to Thomas Clarkson Academy.

Thank you for expressing an interest in our school and I am delighted to welcome you. We are an improving school and serve the needs of our 1300 students, their families and the local community as an increasingly successful, vibrant, welcoming and inclusive 11-18 academy. Although we were oversubscribed last year, we are non-selective. Our motto is ‘Engage, Inspire, Achieve’ and we aim to provide our students with the best opportunities to achieve the academic qualifications and skills to progress to university or the career of their choice. We want our students to realise their potential.
Last year saw our best ever A level results for those students who remained with us throughout years 12 and 13; 41% of all A level grades awarded were A*- B grades.  As a consequence, we are beginning to send more students to university, including Russell Group universities. Our GCSE results improved significantly last year and we are confident this upward trend will continue. Our staff have high aspirations for all of our students and want them to grow into confident, ambitious and high achieving individuals.
This year we have a focus on raising our standards; particularly literacy, good behaviour, and progress and high achievement for all students, and we expect parents to want the same for their children. We want our students to wear their academy uniform with pride and be ambassadors for the academy in the local community. Whilst at the academy students can also expect to develop the important skills of leadership, teamwork and co-operation through participation in a broad range of opportunities beyond the classroom such as sport, art, drama and community service.
Thomas Clarkson Academy is a wonderful school and I look forward to working with you to ensure our students do Engage, Inspire and Achieve.
