Students can apply to join the Academy’s student councils

Students are being invited to apply to represent their fellow students as part of the Academy’s student councils.

Three Community Student Councils each consisting of 10 students will be formed in King, Madiba and Pankhurst.

Each Learning Community’s Student Council will be made up of the Head Boy and Head Girl, who were chosen at the end of last term, and two representatives from each year group from Year 7 to Year 10.

From the Student Councils which the three Learning Communities form, members can put themselves forward to be part of the overall Academy Student Council.

Head of the King Learning Community Sarah Loosemore said: “We are looking for a Community Council in each of the Academy’s Learning Communities. This will automatically involve the Year 11 Head Boy and Head Girl from each Community.

“If you are in Year 7, 8, 9 or 10, this is your opportunity to be heard and offer your suggestions of ways to make your learning experiences at Thomas Clarkson Academy even better than they already are.

“If you are interested in applying please send in a short letter explaining why you would like to be involved.

“The letter needs to be addressed to the Head Boy and Head Girl in your Learning Community and you should drop the letter off at your Community Office.”

The Head Boy and Girl in King are Ricki Tura and Chelsea Munday, in Madiba they are Matthew Barrett and Stacey Pitcher and in Pankhurst they are Mackenzie Cobbin and Hannah Loughlin.
