Our Year 8 rounders team have continued their success in the Isle of Ely league and have qualified for the Sainsburys School Games, where TCA will represent the Isle of Ely at district level.

The TCA players beat teams from Sir Harry Smith, Ely, Neale Wade and Witchford to become champions.

Teacher Amy Anderson said: “Miss Smith encouraged and led the team to victory. Special mentions to Abi Pittam who scored many rounders, including four in one innings, and Susan Farg on second base with some awesome fielding.”

TCA recently hosted the first Isle of Ely rounders tournament. Teams from Witchford, Ely and Neale Wade travelled to TCA for the afternoon of sport on May 1st.

Miss Anderson said: “The Year 7 team is a relatively inexperienced team and they got their first chance to experience competitive rounders. They did very well, with some good hits and fielding alike.

“The team that stole the show was Miss Smith’s Year 8 team, who won two of their matches and lost one. They were tied on points with Neale Wade at the end of the competition.

“After a count back of rounders scored, Thomas Clarkson were crowned winners of the tournament, having scored 37 rounders to Neale Wade’s 29.5. The girls were delighted.”

Rounders training takes place after school on a Tuesday with Miss Anderson, Miss Smith, Miss Howitt and Miss Knowles.
