Shadowing group prepare for Carnegie announcement

Our Carnegie Medal Shadowing group are getting ready for the announcement of the winning title.

Our Carnegie Medal Shadowing group are getting ready for the announcement of the winning title.

The winner of the prestigious award will be announced on Wednesday 19th June.

A group of five of our students have been reading and appraising the books which have been shortlisted over the past few weeks.

The students are set to work their way through the last of the eight shortlisted titles in time for the announcement.

On the announcement day the TCA group will travel to the Voyager Academy in Peterborough, where they will also be joined by students from Thomas Deacon Academy. The students will get the chance to discuss the books and take part in quizzes and other activities in the run up to the announcement of the winner.

Leader of TCA’s Learning Information Centre, Debbie Trafford, said: “We can’t decide this year who is going to win, the competition is quite open.

“We have got our favourites within the group but there’s no telling who is going to win.

“The shadowing group has been fantastic and we are definitely going to do it again next year.”

The CILIP Carnegie Medal is awarded annually by children's librarians to a book which they consider to be an outstanding title for children and young people. Alongside this award, the CILIP Kate Greenaway Medal is awarded to a book for children and young people which is outstanding in terms of illustration.

Roddy Doyle A GREYHOUND OF A GIRL
