Connor gets experience of life at a law firm

Sixth Form student Connor Brophy got the chance to find out what life is like working at a law company when he spent the day at the Cambridgeshire offices of a law firm.

Sixth Form student Connor Brophy got the chance to find out what life is like working in the legal sector when he spent the day at the Cambridge offices of international law firm Taylor Wessing.

Year 12 student Connor is studying A Level Law, Government and Politics, Business and History, and is interested in working in law in the future. He visited Taylor Wessing last month.

Connor was given a tour and talked to various members of staff at the company about their experiences.

He said: “It was different from what I expected. The day was really fun and interesting, I learnt a lot and got to talk to lots of different people about their experience of working at Taylor Wessing in lots of different departments.

“It was very relevant work experience for me and it’s given me more enthusiasm for the career now that I’ve met some people who are actually working in the field.”

Thomas Clarkson Academy’s Careers, Education, Information, Advice and Guidance ambassador, Hetty Cliss, said: “This visit was perfect for Connor, as it really suited the career path which he is interested in, and it was a rewarding experience for him.

“We are hoping to organise more subject-specific work experience for students because that is the most valuable experience for them, particularly for students in the Sixth Form who may already have an idea of what they want to do when they leave education.”
