All of our students and staff paid their respects to those who have lost their lives in war during an Armistice Day assembly.

A memorial parade involving young cadets from across the forces took place in our central Eden area and was led by Year 11 student Jack Gantt.

Our Young Interpreters also formed the parade, carrying flags from across the nations. To start the two minute silence the Last Post was played by student Andrew Betts.

There have been a series of events held at TCA as part of Remembrance. Sixth Form students have been selling poppies and leading assemblies about the significance of the Poppy. An exhibition with artefacts lent by the family of Ciaran Lowe has also been on display and students and staff took part in the Remembrance parade held in Wisbech on Sunday.

History teacher Lucy Beth Heighton said: “It is our responsibility as adults to ensure that students are aware of the significance of Remembrance Day so that we continue to honour the sacrifices that have been made. This year we have tried to put the message across that wearing a poppy isn’t about supporting war, it’s about respecting each individual life that has been affected by war and continues to be. It’s about having the right to choose to wear a Poppy and it’s nice to see our students making their own choice to display a poppy on their uniform.”
