One of the country’s top BMX riders visited TCA to inspire students to reach their sporting goals.

Former UK champion Mike Mullen gave students words of wisdom in a series of talks and presentations throughout his visit last Friday (November 27th).

The sportsman, who became interested in the sport after watching it on TV as a youngster, also demonstrated some special tricks and skills.

The BMXer is one of the Sky Sports Athlete Mentors who visit schools and organisations across the country to encourage young people to get active and excel in a sporting field.

TCA is signed up to the Sky Sports Live for Sport programme which is an initiative available to secondary schools that uses sports stars and skills learnt through sport to build confidence and develop life skills.

The stunt rider said: “It’s great to be involved in such a big nationwide initiative that gives so much back to the young people of the UK. My role as a National Athlete Mentor is a dream job. I get the chance to share my sport, my story and in class, run personal development sessions to inspire young people to make positive changes in their own lives.”

Head of Sport James Hooper said: “Mike Mullen is a professional biker who realised his dream through hard work and determination. His visit at TCA has inspired our students to chase their dreams no matter what they are.”
