Students and staff who raised more than £200 for Macmillan Cancer Support by holding a cake sale have presented the cash to the charity.

Home-made cakes were sold in TCA’s restaurant on Friday, September 28, the same day that thousands of coffee mornings and fundraising events took place nationwide as part of the annual Macmillan World’s Biggest Coffee Morning event.

A total of £238.81 was raised from sales of cakes and raffle tickets and from donations put into a collection bucket.

The sale was a collaboration of the Learning Support Centre (LSC) and the Ethnic Minority Achievement (EMA) teams.

Linda Pegler from the Wisbech branch of Macmillan Cancer Support said: “I think they have done a fantastic job, it’s great to see the youngsters getting involved in raising money for charity, especially cancer charities.

“Without this we wouldn’t be able to do what we do.

“The effort they put in was brilliant, they should be very proud of themselves.”
