A whole series of events have been lined up for Year 12 students to ensure that they are thinking about and planning for their future.

A whole series of events have been lined up for Year 12 students to ensure that they are thinking about and planning for their future.

During June and July the Sixth Formers will be able to take part in a number of events that have been targeted at helping them consider life beyond Thomas Clarkson Academy.

On offer is the UCAS Exhibition at Anglia Ruskin University on June 22nd, the Skills Show at Peterborough on July 15th, CV and Personal statement writing workshops and University/Russell Group information sessions.

CEIAG Ambassador Vicky Read who has organized these events in conjunction with the Head of Sixth Form said: “We wanted to put together a programme of events for our Year12 students so that they start thinking about their next steps and use their summer wisely to enhance their experience and skills.  Year 13 is a very busy year and getting a head start with research into future options is vital.”

The academy has also signed up to a new programme called Unifrog, an online service which helps young people find the best universities and apprenticeships for them.

Head of Sixth Form Jess Smith said: “This is a new programme that we are really excited about being able to offer our students. It is a great online resource which will help them to find a huge amount of information about their potential options. It is individually tailored so by just typing in a few key words the programme will show our students the best courses for them; be that by their predicted grades, interests or preferred location of study.

It can also filter the information and show all sorts of statistics such as the percentage of graduates who have previously studied the course and gone on to find employment.”

Ms Smith added” “Unifrog will aid the UCAS process and help students with their personal statements.”
