TCA fundraising for Children in Need

Staff and students at Thomas Clarkson Academy are gearing up for an afternoon of fun-filled activities to support Children in Need this Friday.

Staff and students at Thomas Clarkson Academy are gearing up for an afternoon of fun-filled activities to support Children in Need.

Activities include Pudsey’s Den, team-building Total Wipeout sports plus Years 7 and 8 will have a ‘cinema experience’ with Sixth Formers acting as ushers and supplying snacks.

The events have been organised by Miss Smith and the Sixth Form Leadership team and every year group has their own specific activity planned.

Miss Smith said: ‘The fun starts early as it’ll be a non uniform day and people are asked to dress in something spotty. There will be prizes for the spottiest tutor group and mini competitions at breakfast where students can buy foam sponges to throw at teachers and traditional games such as guess the sweets in the jar.’

The fun really kicks in from 11.40 to 2.45 when the entire school will be off timetable and engaged in sporty, creative or fun activities.

Students from Years 7 and 8 will watch a film in the theatre while Year 9s will be making ‘Spotacular art’. The theme will be dotty and spotty and they will make Pudsey pots. Others will be involved with ‘Spotacular Steps’ dance competition and there will be other crafty workshops to enjoy.

Year 10 students will be pitting their wits against judges in ‘Pudsey’s Den’. They have to present pitches about local charities of their choice with the best ones going through to a nerve-racking final in front of an audience plus Principal Mrs Hill and a team of judges who will deliver their verdicts.

For Year 11 it will be a chance to get involved in sports in a mash up of ‘It’s a Knockout’ and ‘Total Wipeout’. The action will be fast and furious so may the best team win!

Year 12s and 13s will be creating and serving snacks and refreshments and acting as ushers for the younger students enjoying the cinema experience. Thomas Clarkson Academy is getting set to celebrate Children in Need day in style so support the fundraising and activities as much as possible – and don’t forget to dress in your best spotty clothes this Friday!
