A student who started learning in TCA’s Learning Support Centre (LSC) and is now taking mainstream lessons has been congratulated on his progress.

Year 10 student Jack Saunders started having lessons in the LSC and only came in for afternoons when he was in Year 7.

By the time he reached Year 9 he started taking part in some mainstream lessons and he now does all of his classes except PE in mainstream classes.

Jack was presented with a Certificate of Achievement and a box of chocolates by Teaching Assistant Carol Peasey from the LSC and Gerwyn Williams, head of the Pankhurst Learning Community, which Jack belongs to, to mark his progress.

Jack said: “I thought it was very good to get my certificate. Everyone in the LSC is very supportive of me.”

Mrs Peasey said: “It’s wonderful, we all knew he had the ability to do it. When students are nervous, it takes time for them to get together the courage they need, which is what Jack has done.

“We are all so proud of him.”
