Students and staff help at WisBEACH event

Staff and students from Thomas Clarkson Academy had a great time supporting the WisBEACH community event when the seaside came to town.

Staff and students from Thomas Clarkson Academy had a great time supporting the WisBEACH community event when the seaside came to town.

Hundreds of tonnes of sand recreated a beach in the Market Place and, to get into the seaside spirit, TCA teacher Mrs Trenoweth, ably assisted by our Library Ambassadors Joshua Watson and Olivia Rumbelow, spent all day face painting sea creatures onto children’s faces in the town’s library to promote the Wisbech Reads initiative.

Year 9 student Joshua Watson was also painted and ventured into the town to promote all the fun activities taking place at the library while TCA’s librarian, Mrs Debbie Trafford, was in a marquee in the Market Place where young interpreter Marcin Popielarcyzk, was telling stories in English and Polish.

Mrs Trafford said: ‘WisBEACH has become an annual community event and the town centre came alive with community groups and traders recreating the atmosphere and fun of a day at the seaside. TCA joined with the library to provide activities with an underwater theme as part of Wisbech Reads. The event attracted a large number of people to the town, who all seemed to have a good time.’
