Hats off to crafty Year 8 students

Year 8 students have been preparing for the winter chill by making their own hats in their textiles lessons.

The students have been working on their hats since the beginning of the new school year. They started off by putting their ideas onto paper and coming up with a final design before moving on to create the hat using fleece, fake fur fabric or felt.

Teacher Sue Beedham said: “They have been working on a hat that could be sold in a High Street store. They did design ideas and made their own company labels as if they were going to sell it in a shop.”

Student Grace Elizabeth Kent said: “I made my hat in my favourite colours, red, pink and blue, and put a bow on it. I’m pleased with how it has turned out.”
