Students wrote their own poetry during a workshop with performance poet Luke Wright.

Mr Wright visited TCA on Wednesday, November 21, and ran a workshop in the theatre with Year 9 students.

Mr Wright began the day by performing some of his work to the group of around 30 students.

The students then worked in groups to create their own poetry using different poetic techniques.

Mr Wright has been writing and performing poetry for 14 years. He has written six solo stage shows and has performed at literary festivals, music festivals, comedy clubs and various other venues all over the world.

English teacher Andrew Reynolds, who arranged the visit, said: “I’m glad Luke came in as his visit showed the students that poetry doesn’t have to be boring. This sort of thing is a route for young people to get into poetry.”
