Students Shine at Poetry Live! Event in Peterborough

On 6th February, 50 Year 11 students from our school had the incredible opportunity to attend the Poetry Live! event at Peterborough's New Theatre. This enriching experience allowed them to engage with several renowned poets featured in the AQA GCSE Power and Conflict Anthology of Poetry, a key component of the Year 10 and 11 curriculum.

The event showcased an impressive line-up of literary talent, including the current Poet Laureate, Simon Armitage, former Poet Laureate and A Level Anthology Poet, Carol Ann Duffy, and the dynamic performance poet, John Agard. A standout moment was the performance by Daljit Nagra, who captivated the audience with his modern take on poetry, skilfully reflecting the evolving nature of the English language.

The students' enthusiasm and exemplary conduct throughout the day were a testament to their dedication and passion for literature. Their behaviour and engagement made us proud to be educators at TCA. Special thanks to Mr. Inns, Miss Robinson, and Mr. Gooda for accompanying the students and contributing to the success of the trip. As Mr. Gooda aptly put it, "every day is a school day."

Mrs. Hill reflected on the event, emphasising how trips like these embed students' classroom learning by providing real-world experiences that bring the curriculum to life. She expressed her pride in the students and their representation of the school, highlighting the positive impact such experiences have on their educational journey.
