Happy campers for DofE award
Getting lost in the forest was never an option for our group of intrepid students camping out for their Duke of Edinburgh Award.
After a long break, thanks to Covid, the popular trips are back and our Year 9 bronze group went to Thetford Forest for a two-day camp as part of their award.
They hiked and camped overnight and showed both resilience and determination while learning new skills including map and compass reading.
“I’m so proud of my group, we had a lot of perseverance,” said Harvey, one of the students taking part.
Staff on the trip were impressed with how the students coped: “We haven’t had the opportunity to run our expeditions for two years now due to Covid, so seeing students out doing this again and having fun, despite a few setbacks, was great to see. They really did impress us,” said Miss Willows, DofE Manager.
The group will have a second trip later this year to complete their Bronze Award.
