Disability History Month

We are currently in UK Disability History Month which runs from November 16 to December 16.

The theme for this year is Disability, Health and Well Being and the aim is to raise awareness of the unequal position of disabled people in society.

Highlighting the issues faced by those with disabilities and advocating inclusion, the month aims to broaden the understanding and acknowledgement of problems faced. The organisers also argue for the implementations of the United Nations Convention of the Rights of Disabilities and Equalities Act (2010).

Our own library has books available all year round which have themes of disability, featuring disabled characters or written by authors with disability.

You might learn something new, find something that helps you or helps you understand more about other people's experiences and their feelings.
