Learn more about LGBT+

February is LGBT+ history month and  gives the opportunity to learn more about the past, when people weren't always accepted or included because of the way they are.

Understanding how things were and knowing about the fight for equality can help illuminate those prejudices that still exist and encourage us to think about our own responsibility in creating a fair and equal society.

The month is designed to be vibrant, exciting, informative and celebratory to educate over prejudice and make LGBT+ people visible in all their rich diversity.

Our library has a great selection of resources on the theme and can help you learn more or understand better if someone you know is  a member of the LGBT+ community. The books are equally good if you just want to read a good story.

We have a wide range of fiction and non-fiction on the theme, including those written by LGBT+ authors.

You can also find out more online: BBC Bitesize, CBBC Newsround and The Books Trust.
