Holiday loans and award-winning titles

Time is running out if you want to borrow a book from the academy library for half-term.

Make sure you have secured a holiday loan for the title you want to hang onto over the break. Call in and get it scanned before the break.

If you are planning on borrowing a book to enjoy then we have award-winning authors and titles available from our shelves.

The Schneider Family Book Awards honour an author or illustrator for artistic impression of the disability experience for child and adolescent audiences.

A Kind Of Spark, by Elle McNicoll tells the story of 11-year-old Addie who campaigns for a memorial for the witch trials which took place in her Scottish hometown.

Stuntboy, by Jason Reynolds, introduces the newest superhero in town - or at least he thinks he is. Acts of daring and courage are illustrated by Raul the Third.

A Face For Picasso, by Ariel Henley, is the story of identical twins diagnosed with a rare condition leaving them with a facial disfigurement. A tale of resilience, sisterhood and strength.

The Words in my Hands was also a Schneider award winner. It is an illustrated novel and joins Piper, a Deaf teenager, who is searching for her identity through art and activism.
