A group of more than 30 students spent their half term looking behind the scenes of London’s West End theatres on a three-day trip.

Drama and art students from Years 9 to 12 took a backstage tour of the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane, and then watched Shrek: The Musical being performed on its stage.

The students took part in a workshop and took a tour at the Globe Theatre, visited the Tate Modern and Tate Britain galleries, the Victoria & Albert Museum, the Natural History Museum and the British Museum.

They also watched a performance of War Horse and enjoyed meals at The Hard Rock cafe and Planet Hollywood during the trip.

Student Jamie-Lea Taylor said: “War Horse was an amazing play and we had a perfect view to enjoy everything on stage. Overall it was a great trip.”

Julie Wilcox, Head of Drama, said: “I have to say that our students made me so proud to be their teacher. They behaved impeccably and were polite and respectful to all.”
