Students Alex Ives and Emily Cooper shared their views on issues at a meeting of Fenland District Youth Council.

Academy Council members Alex and Emily, who are both in Year 10, represented Thomas Clarkson Academy at the meeting on Wednesday (March 27th). The meeting, which was held at Fenland Hall in March, was the second the pair had attended.

One of the issues discussed included action on abandoned buildings in Wisbech, after Alex brought up the matter at the last meeting.

Alex said: “They have recognised that young people are concerned about this.

“I think these meetings are a good way for us to give our opinions and help Fenland.”

Other issues discussed included the Fenland leisure centres and transport for young people to the centres.

Emily said: “These meetings area way to know that young peoples’ opinions are valued. I enjoy going along, being part of it gives me confidence.”

Head of King learning community, Sarah Loosemore, said: “Alex and Emily did us proud with their contributions to the meeting.”
