Budding writers win prizes

Students have been rewarded for their efforts in a writing competition.

Students have been rewarded for their efforts in a writing competition.

Year 11 student Bethany Edwards was named the winner in the Inspire Me! competition, which was recently run at TCA.

Bethany’s work was based on the rhythm and syllables of ‘T’was the night before Christmas’.

She said: “I enjoyed writing it, and I will probably get into writing a bit more now. I was surprised when I was named the winner.”

Year 11 student Bethany Ellerby won second place, while year 11 student Jake Fowler and year 10 student Ariana Gamble were in joint third place.

A piece written as a team effort by year 10 students Molly-Mae Taylor and Tanita Taylor took fourth place.

Winners of several writing competitions which have taken place at TCA recently – the Inspire Me! competition, the Rappaman lyrics competition and a poetry contest – will be presented with their prizes and will read their work out to parents at a special poetry evening in the theatre next week.

2nd Bethany Ellerby – Wins £50

3rd Louis Chamberlain and Alex Green (joint entry) wins £25

Highly commended: Martynas Dursa and Ben Ayling – win £10 each
