Students are being encouraged to test their creative talents against other young people and take part in the ‘The Poetry Games’.
Led by the Young Writers group in Peterborough the competition is aimed at 11-18 year olds and publication in an anthology as well as a Kindle is up for grab.
The catchphrase of the competition is: ‘Can you fight for what you believe in with nothing but the power of your pen?’
The content can be about any subject as long as the student writes about something of which they are passionate and believe in.
The school with the best collective entries could also win a £1000 prize.
The English department has set up two sessions next month to help students prepare.
These are on Monday 3rd February and Wednesday 5th February from 3:20pm to 4pm.
The closing date is Friday 14th February, meaning all entries would need to be posted before Monday 10th February.
Students should collect a permission slip for the afterschool sessions and return before Friday 31st of January.
