Year 9 students with an aptitude for science got a taste of university life when they took part in a forensic workshop.

19 students went along to Anglia Ruskin University (January 22nd) and were given an insight into the wold of forensics with some exciting experiments.

They learned how drugs are tested for and also carried out some experiments with propellants. Four of the university science lecturers led the workshop, which was run in conjunction with the Royal Society of Chemistry.

Chemistry teacher Garry Crossley said: “The workshop was hugely beneficial to students as they took part in experiments that were applicable to the real working world.

“They really engaged with the experiments and during the question and answer session they bombarded the lecturers with intelligent questions.”
