Preparing students for their next steps
Sixth formers considered their next steps and were given a talk on student finance as part of their preparation for life after school.
Representatives from NEACO (Network for East Anglian Collaborative Outreach) spoke to Year 13 students about the UCAS process and what to do when they start receiving offers. They suggested the things students should consider when making their final selections and explained what happens on results day. They also talked about student accommodation in preparation for students living away from home.
The group was then joined by Year 12 students for a talk on student finance by Rachael Cole from Anglia Ruskin University.
She explained how fees and maintenance loans work; how the repayment system works; and what other funds are available that do not have to be paid back, such as bursaries and scholarships.
She was also on hand to speak to parents on the same subject during the sixth form parents’ evening.
