#HelloYellow campaign in support of World Mental Health Day

Students helped to brighten up the school day by wearing yellow to mark World Mental Health Day.

The national #HelloYellow campaign aims to raise awareness of mental health issues and the support available to young people.

Students were encouraged to wear a yellow accessory ahead of World Mental Health Day on Saturday.

The event, which was organised by TCA’s Mental Health Lead Mrs Morley, was held in support of YoungMinds and to show young people they’re not alone with their mental health. Yellow ribbons were put up around school to raise awareness of the event.

There are also a number of after-school clubs to support students’ mental wellbeing:

  • Mental Health and Wellbeing Club
    Learn about mental health and wellbeing coping strategies with like-minded people.
    Wednesdays: Year 7, Room P010, 2.55pm - 3.55pm
    Thursdays: Year 9, Room K009, 2.55pm - 3.55pm
     
  • Yoga/Wellbeing club
    7.30am – 8am (bring your own mat/towel, bottle of water and be prepared to work in bare feet or gripped socks)
    Tuesdays: Year 11
    Thursdays: Year 12/13

Shelf Help: Reading Well

There are lots of books which can support students’ mental health – the Reading Well campaign includes recommended books about mental health which have been endorsed by experts.

The list of books for 13 to 18-year-olds examine issues including anxiety, stress, OCD, exam pressure and bullying.  Click here to view.
