Year 7 parents visit for Meet and Greet the Academy evening

Parents of Year 7 students got an update on how their children have been settling in at the Academy at our Meet and Greet the Academy evening last night (Thursday, September 27th).

Parents of Year 7 students got an update on how their children have been settling in at the Academy at our Meet and Greet the Academy evening last night (Thursday, September 27th).

Parents and their children gathered in Eden for a talk from the Academy’s Principal Clare Claxton before heading off into their child’s Learning Community to meet their tutors.

Parents had the chance to take a look around the new school building during their visit and many took the opportunity to have a look at the new theatre.

After meeting the tutors parents and students were invited to have a cup of tea or coffee and cake in the restaurant.

Mrs Claxton said: "Can I extend my sincere thanks to all the staff, parents and Year 7 students who attended Thursday’s Meet and Greet evening . I enjoyed meeting many parents and the staff were so encouraged by the number of parents who attended.

"It was a memorable evening for us all and I hope the first of many such meeting between parents, staff and students in the years to come."

Some of the comments received on feedback forms filled out by parents included:

  • I was very pleased with the support given by Mrs Warby. I think summer school really helped with my son’s confidence about starting the academy
  • I wish I was still at school to have an opportunity to learn in this fantastic school
  • I am pleased my child has settled in well
  • Very impressed and very pleased with the reports so far
  • Really pleased with parent/school contact so far and we think regular academy evenings are really important
