Thomas Clarkson Academy head girl Lizzie Baker is preparing to parachute out of a plane to raise money for a cancer charity.

Lizzie, 18, who is in Year 13, will be carrying out the jump with her sister Heather this summer, in aid of CLIC Sargent, a charity which supports children with cancer, and their families.

The sisters have been fundraising for around two months and have already raised £1,219.36, thanks to the support of staff and students at TCA.

During a non-uniform day held on Friday students donated £792.06, while teachers and customers in the fish and chip shop where Lizzie works have also sponsored her.

Lizzie, who is facing her fear of heights to carry out the jump, said: “My grandma had cancer and she was a childminder. She always said she couldn’t imagine a child going through it so we started raising money for CLIC which helps children with cancer and their families.

“The support has been really good. I wasn’t expecting to raise so much so quickly. People have been so generous.”
