Anne Frank Trust present plaque to TCA

Thomas Clarkson Academy has been presented with a plaque from the Anne Frank Trust for its commitment to challenging prejudice and discrimination.

Thomas Clarkson Academy has been presented with a plaque from the Anne Frank Trust for its commitment to challenging prejudice and discrimination.

The school hosted an exhibition with pupils training as Anne Frank tour guides to spread the story throughout the school, and others going on to be trained as Anne Frank ambassadors.

The ambassadors will be going into local primary schools later this year to share Anne Frank’s story with younger students and will also be spreading the message to the Academy’s Year 7 students.

15 students volunteered to be trained by the Anne Frank Trust UK to guide visitors around the exhibition Anne Frank: A History for Today. Following the exhibition six of the guides completed the Anne Frank Ambassador Training at Nottingham Holocaust Memorial Centre and Peterborough Cathedral.

The plaque, which will be displayed in the school, reads: “We hosted the Anne Frank exhibition in 2014. Our commitment to challenge all forms of prejudice and discrimination has been recognised by the Anne Frank Trust.”

RE Co-ordinator Victoria Coleman said: “We are delighted to have received this recognition from the Anne Frank Trust. The students have shown they are committed to continuing to spread Anne Frank’s message and helping to challenge prejudice.”
