Thomas Clarkson Academy is building a tradition of being represented in the local Wisbech Remembrance Parade.

On Sunday 9th November we joined local youth groups from cadets and the Scouting and Guide Associations, along with veterans and local dignitaries, to pay our respect at the Wisbech memorial of remembrance.

Eight students joined Lucy-Beth Heighton, co-ordinator of History, Principal Clare Claxton and a number of other staff to parade and lay a wreath. Abbie Markillie and Amy Woodham, both Year 7, laid our wreath which had been designed and made by them and some other students in the session 6 flower arranging club.

In addition to the students who joined the TCA group for parade, there were at least 40 other TCA students representing other youth organisations, including two other wreath layers and two standard bearers.

Miss Heighton said: “All students that took part in the parade did their respective groups proud and it was lovely to see the level of respect shown to the community.

“A poignant moment of the day was hearing the cry of a baby during the two minutes silent. A symbol of the future that our armed forces have given, and continue to give, their lives for.”
