Those who have fallen in war are being remembered by the TCA community through a series of activities this week and next.

Students have been supporting the Royal British Legion by selling poppies throughout this week and students have also been giving assemblies about the history of the poppy.

On Sunday a large number of students and staff will attend the Wisbech Remembrance service.

History teacher Lucy Beth Heighton who has coordinated the TCA remembrance events said: “This Sunday we’ll be represented at the Wisbech Remembrance Parade. Many youth groups are present during the parade and as the largest youth community in Wisbech, it is our honour to be represented. It is our responsibility as adults to ensure that students are aware of the significance of Remembrance Day so that we continue to honour the sacrifices that have been made. This year we have tried to put the message across that wearing a poppy isn’t about supporting war, it’s about respecting each individual life that has been affected by war and continues to be. It’s about having the right to choose to wear a Poppy and it’s nice to see our students making their own choice to display a poppy on their uniform.”

A display called Wisbech at War has also been made and Year 10 student Ciaran Lowe has brought in his family's collection of WWI war artefacts.

A whole school remembrance will take place on Armistace Day (November 11th). After the service student’s poppies will be used to make up the image of a soldier.
