Marilyn Hawes, from the charitable group Enough Abuse, led a two-hour training session to TCA staff along with staff from Peckover Academy, the Wisbech Early Help team, TCA governors and Octavia AP Academy.

Afterwards, Ms Hawes delivered a parent/student workshop to raise awareness of the dangers of the internet and mobile devices, alongside the need to be aware of your surroundings and know how to keep yourself safe.

Alex Salmon, the Academy’s Vice Principal for Safeguarding, said: “The knowledge and guidance Marilyn gave to the group made staff feel very confident. The greater your knowledge, the more confident you become in your field and in this case, the field of safeguarding.

“All the professionals who attended the training are totally are committed to working together to ensure the children of Wisbech are protected from harm.

“This was a fantastic start to the academic year in upskilling our staff, parents and students in identifying behaviours that are a concern and knowing how to protect our students from harm.

“Feedback from parents and students who attended was all very positive. Everyone felt that they had learnt something new and could appreciate the benefit of attending the session.”
