Ambition for All at Thomas Clarkson Academy
Thomas Clarkson Academy is the latest Brooke Weston Trust school to launch our Ambition for All campaign.
Thomas Clarkson Academy is the latest Brooke Weston Trust school to launch our Ambition for All campaign. Trust CEO Dr Andrew Campbell delivered a series of assemblies to staff and students from across all year groups, outlining the campaign’s aims and encouraging them to be ambitious, both personally and as a school community.
The Ambition for All campaign runs across all of our Trust schools this year and each of our ten schools are assigned an individual month in which they are specific ‘torchbearers’ where the spotlight will fall on them specifically. Thomas Clarkson Academy will spearhead ‘Ambition for All’ in May 2018 with activities and projects to encourage and celebrate ambition.
Dr Campbell told the students: ‘When you set yourself goals, or have hopes in your life, how likely are you to get there? If you add together all the ambition in Thomas Clarkson Academy what kind of place is it? When you put your foot through the door in the morning, if you are bringing positivity and ambition then the school should feel like a place where good stuff is going to happen. If you set yourself a goal do you actually believe you can do it? Are you using the right strategy? Is it worth it?
‘The staff at Thomas Clarkson Academy are here to ensure that you are successful. We have signed up to a pledge to give you the best possible service. We care about what you achieve, we want you to be successful. I want this school to be a shining beacon of education in Cambridgeshire and we will do that by caring enough to challenge each other.’
Dr Campbell said that a school should be measured by the amount of hope that it gives to its students, and reinforced key messages being displayed in classrooms and offices across the Trust to highlight that staff and students should work to be the best they can, support others and make the world a better place.
The Ambition for All campaign is a single focus on improving academic outcomes and opportunities for character development that will run in all our Trust schools throughout this academic year. It applies to all areas of the Trust’s schools’ operations to ensure students receive the highest quality teaching and wider development opportunities within a supportive and encouraging environment, where adults live and breathe ambition for student success in all its forms. Implicit within this approach is a focus on the progress of disadvantaged students and of high ability students, whatever their background. As part of the Ambition for All campaign the CEO, Principal and Chair of Governors at each school will sign a pledge to be displayed prominently.
