Busy Sixth Form Opening Evening

Our recent Sixth Form open evening attracted around 150 students, including many Year 11s from other schools.

Our recent Sixth Form open evening attracted around 150 students, including many Year 11s from other schools.

With each department staging interactive demonstrations, there was plenty of information for students to consider before they make some important decisions in the coming weeks.

New courses starting in 2018 include A levels in environmental science, music and a number of languages. There are more than 20 A level subjects to choose from, including philosophy and ethics, further maths, sociology, psychology, product design and Spanish. BTEC courses on offer include construction and creative media.

TCA’s Head of Sixth Form Jess Smith said: “We had a very successful open evening and several parents commented on how impressed they were.

“This summer, TCA achieved its best-ever A level results with a number of students securing places at Russell Group universities. This is testament to both staff and students’ efforts and aspiration. We take pride in helping each and every student to reach their potential in order to open up the choices available to them.”

Miss Smith added: “I’d also like to thank the 40 current Sixth Formers who volunteered to help with the evening. They were a credit to TCA and gave an insight into life at the Academy.”

For those families who were unable to attend the open evening, there will be tours of the school in the near future – keep an eye on this website for details.

Students are encouraged to submit their applications for a Sixth Form place as soon as possible. The application form is available from Miss Smith or can be viewed here.
