The Year 8 boys’ rugby team marched on with another win in the Isle of Ely league, with a 3-1 defeat of Neale Wade Academy.

Following a very tight first half, the boys turned things around to emerge winners, with some strong individual performances.

PE teacher Ben Smith said: “The boys came out all guns blazing in the second half, with David Michalczyk thundering over the line. He continued to impress, making big tackles and running well with Captain Connor Loughlin. The team recycled the ball well and ran good lines. Kacper Mrozik was the pick of the forwards, making his present felt in every ruck he hit.

“The game remained on a knife-edge late on and needed a piece of magic to put the nail in the coffin. Brandon Boughen supplied it, picking the ball at the back of the scrum and sneaking round the blindside to jinx past one defender and getting the ball down. This capped off a fantastic performance from the Clarkson Scrum Half.”

With only two games left, the team remains unbeaten so far this season.

Well done to Connor Loughlin, Kacper Mrozik, Ryan Clark, Harvey Wilson, Andre Gomes, Domantas Baltuska, Ronnie Kilby, David Michalczyk, Thomas Barker, Joseph Tierney, Charlie Pearce, Brandon Boughen, Roberto Barbosa, Thomas Cegys and Connor Sweeney.
