Christmas and New Year Food Drive

Sixth formers are helping to run this year’s food drive in support of Wisbech Food Bank.

The drive will continue throughout January, with each form challenged to fill a box full of food suggested by the food bank.

Items are ranked according to need, with extra points awarded in the form challenge for items most in need.

Five points are awarded for dried or long-life milk, fruit juice (not chilled), fruit squash, sugar (500g or 1kg bags) and coffee.

Two points are awarded for pasta sauces, biscuits, cereals, rice, jam, tinned tomatoes, tea, tinned fruit, tinned fish, tinned rice pudding, tinned sponge pudding, tinned vegetables, tinned potatoes, instant mash potatoes, snack bars, chocolate bars and crisps.

One point is awarded for baked beans, pasta, soup and dried noodles.

Families are urged to donate any spare food they may have accumulated over Christmas.

Please note the food bank will not accept fresh fruit and vegetables, nuts, alcohol and out-of-date items.
