Week 2 of the TCA Bake Off

Things are heating up in the kitchen after two more students left the TCA Bake Off following the latest cooking challenge.

The competition got under way last week when 14 students went head-to-head in the first round, making and decorating six biscuits which they hoped would impress the judging panel.

This week, they were tasked with making sweet or savoury scones complete with an accompaniment.

Several members of staff were only too happy to help with the judging process, with lots of discussion about presentation, taste and texture. Students are being tested on every aspect of their baking skills.

Over the next four weeks, the group will be making cupcakes, a tray bake, bread rolls and savoury pastries, with the three best bakers going through to the grand final in July against students from other schools in the Brooke Weston Trust.
