New Year 7 Cohort Enjoys a Taste of Life at TCA
Pupils who will be starting with us in September took part in a varied programme of fun activities to give them an insight into life at TCA.
The cohort will start their TCA journey as new Year 7s in September and they recently spent two days at the academy to familiarise themselves with the building, their peers and teachers, as well as taking part in some hands-on activities run by each department.
They included science experiments, PE and dance workshops, keyring making, cupcake decorating, building a replica of the Eiffel Tower and constructing boats in DT.
Our new students have been asked to send in some examples of their work in their ‘Stepping Up’ booklets and staff have reported seeing brilliant pieces of work.
Matt Dobbing, Assistant Principal for Key Stage 3, said: “Our community, including our students working as guides, our support staff and translators, really came together and made sure the Year 6 pupils had a great couple of days in school.”
A recent transition information evening for families was very well attended, with lots of positive feedback from parents about the ambition shown for students at TCA.
This year, TCA has seen a 20% increase in applications for Year 7 places.
