The school subscribes to the Accelerated Reader scheme and all students in Years 7, 8 and 9 take part in this. AR is designed to develop an increased understanding of the texts that are read. This is a skill which will be of value to students in all areas of school life.

All students are encouraged and expected to read regularly. For those taking part in the AR scheme, after finishing a book they should log on to the AR website and take a quiz on that book. There are rewards available for doing well on these quizzes, and for reading regularly.

Parents can assist their children by encouraging them to read at home.
The AR site can be accessed from the RMUnify Launch Pad, in the same way that students access Show My Homework, so can be accessed at home as well as in school. Year 7, 8 and 9 students will be familiar with this.

All students who participate in the scheme have been given their own username and password. The Accelerated Reader scheme is managed by our Whole School Literacy Leader Mrs Lucy Howes.
