Work experience

When: One full week in June/July
This is an exciting opportunity for students to gain hands-on experience in the workplace, explore career options, and develop essential skills for life after school.

Why Work Experience Matters

Work experience helps students:

  • Understand the world of work
  • Build confidence and independence
  • Develop transferable skills such as communication, teamwork, and problem-solving
  • Strengthen future applications for university, apprenticeships, or employment

Students are encouraged to take an active role in arranging their work experience:

  • Independent Placements
Students will receive a Student Placement Form to approach employers and secure a placement that matches their interests or career aspirations.

  • Pre-arranged Options
A limited list of employers who have previously offered placements will be available for students to choose from.

Work placements are a valuable experience, and regular attendance is expected.
If a student is absent (e.g., due to illness):

  • Students must inform both their employer and TCA.
  • Employers must notify TCA if a student does not attend.
