Free School Meals
What are Free School Meals?
Free School Meals (FSM) are provided to eligible children to ensure they receive a nutritious meal during the school day. This helps support their learning, health, and overall wellbeing.
Who is eligible for Free School Meals?
Your child may be entitled to Free School Meals if you receive any of the following benefits:
- Income Support
- Income-Based Jobseeker’s Allowance
- Income-Related Employment and Support Allowance
- Child Tax Credit (but not Working Tax Credit) and have an annual income of £16,190 or less (as assessed by HMRC)
- Support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
- Guaranteed element of State Pension Credit
- Working Tax Credit – but only during the four-week period immediately after your employment ends or you reduce your working hours
- Universal Credit – with an annual net earned income of £7,400 or less (from 1 April 2018)
If you think you might be eligible, we encourage you to apply. It’s confidential, and even if your child doesn’t want the meal, the school may receive additional funding to support their education.
