At Key Stage 3, students study a term of Drama each year (approximately 12 weeks). During this time, we focus on the key performance skills that apply to both Drama GCSE and every day life. We explore how an individual presents themselves, and what this communicates to an audience. We also focus on how individuals communicate within a group setting, both during rehearsals and during performance.

Year 7
Students focus on their individual acting skills, exploring how they use their voice and physical skills to communicate.

Year 8
Students build on their acting skills, exploring how they can perform effectively as part of a group.

Year 9
Students utilise their existing skills to create performances for different genres and audiences.

At Key Stage 4, pupils refine the skills they have learnt at Key Stage 3, through both their practical and written work. They explore a range of theatrical styles, both as an audience and as a performer, and look at how to discuss a performance in terms of each of the elements of Drama; Acting, Directing, Set Design, Costume, and Lighting & Sound.

We study Eduqas (WJEC) Drama GCSE, which consists of;
- Component 1: Devising an original performance (40% of their overall grade)
- Component 2: Performing a Script (20% of their overall grade)
- Component 3: Written exam (40% of their overall grade)

At Key Stage 5, we offer the chance for students to continue their study with Eduqas (WJEC) Drama A Level. Here, students build the skills to work independently on both creating Theatre and analysing Theatre, looking at how all of the elements of Theatre combine to create a performance.
